A Beautiful Smile…
Posted on Jun 16, 2016 in Faith Updates
Driving home from Minneapolis today, I passed a man standing on the side of the road. As I drove slowly by, we exchanged the most beautiful smile(s). My heart warmed, my heart ached, and my mind began to wander…
What is your story? I wondered. Tell me about your mom and dad. Any siblings? What was your childhood like? What were your dreams? What did you want to be when you grew up? Did you finish high school? Pursue any post-secondary education? Were you in love once? Married? Do you have children of your own? Do you still have dreams?
And then… Who knows where you are today? Who would miss you if you weren’t here tomorrow? What happened in your life, to bring you to this lonely intersection, holding only a piece of cardboard?
And finally… I see you, friend. I see a man deeply loved and created in the image of God. Who sees you, really sees you? Who knows you, really knows you? Who has taken the time to listen to your story, to offer you more than a dollar or a donut?
God knows you, my friend. God loves you. God longs for you. What is my desire for your life, my response to your life? Psalm 139 is written for you … the first three verses in particular I hope you have heard and believe.
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
God, open our eyes and our hearts to those walking among us who are not seen, who are not known, who do not know who they are, who You are, or how desperately You love them. Use me, use us, as instruments of Your love in this world!
God bless us every one,
Here’s What’s Happening at Faith

New Children’s Ministry Director

New staff position
The new Director of Operations and Community Connection will be responsible for stewarding Faith Covenant’s building and the human resources of our staff to connect with the community we are called to serve. This staff member will be a constant advocate for the visitor in our midst assuring our building and systems best serve those new to Faith. Resumés can be submitted to Pastor Brad at email@example.com.
Student Mission Trip Fundraisers
This summer 17 junior and senior high students and 4 leaders will travel to Fairmount, IL, with TeenServe to paint, repair homes and form relationships with the homeowners. Today the “Wall of Money” will be featured in the lobby to fundraise for the cost of the bus. Please help by going to the “wall” in the lobby. There are 150 ways to help! We hope you can partner with our students and their families to make this affordable for all who are going on this life-changing mission. There is also a donation board for some necessary tools that you could help provide as well. Those tools and all money should be turned in by June 26.
Summer Girls Study
A new study for girls ages 15-22 will begin next week on Wednesday, June 15 from 7:30-9pm. The first meet/greet and informational meeting will be held at the Heart of the City park (Caribou, if raining). We will study “The Uncommon Woman” by Susie Larson. Contact Mackenzie Madsen (firstname.lastname@example.org), Renee Kegley (email@example.com), or Lisa Boldenow, 952.270.5181 with questions.
Lost and Found
Faith has accumulated quite a few items over the winter that we’d like to return to their proper owner! Please check the lobby’s southwest coat closet this Sunday to see if anything belongs to you. There are jackets, coffee tumblers, and various other items. Anything unclaimed by July 10 will be donated to the garage sale.
