A Taste of Life Everlasting

Posted on Jun 29, 2017 in Faith Updates

I continue to be amazed at the simplicity of God’s intention for us in creation. Imagine those first chapters from Genesis. What’s the picture painted? God, the man, and the woman living in fellowship in the garden. So simple! Life together! And what do we learn about God’s intention for us in life everlasting? It’s very similar! God and His people living in fellowship in His creation together.

Is it possible to get a taste of the eternal this side of heaven? Yes! Something powerful happens when God’s people retreat to be with Him and each other. It’s the way things were meant to be, and it’s the way things will be eternally. It’s a taste of life-everlasting. God’s people among the trees!

Poet Wendell Berry wrote:

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound…
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
—“The Peace of Wild Things”

This August 18-20 we are going to get a taste of live everlasting! And we will grow our relationship with God, His creation, and our church family! I hope you will join us at the first annual Faith Covenant Retreat at Covenant Pines (August 18-20). Our speaker for the weekend will be my good friend Paul Hurckman from Venture Expeditions. A new member of our Faith family, Steven Shega, will be leading us in worship, and there will be plenty of time for strolling among the trees and swimming in the lake.

Registration is now open (click HERE to sign up). Cost is $100 per adult and $50 per child (with family cap of $300). For more information, contact Jen at jsorensen@faithcovenant.org.

Hope to see you there!
