A Transformed Church: Growing
Posted on Sep 21, 2017 in Faith Updates
The past two Sundays of messages have been very important as we seek to chart a course toward God’s calling on our church. If you haven’t listened to them, click here to do so! Below I’ve bullet-pointed the fundamentals of last week’s message because clarity on our strategy to GROW disciples who make disciples is vital to our success. So, getting down to basics…
Who are we? We are a family of grace.
What’s our mission? We makes disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.
How do we do that? Every disciple must be equipped to disciple another.
What is the pathway we are building to equip growing disciples?
- For those just beginning the journey, we are creating a ministry called Alpha—a 12 week course to help people explore the biggest questions of life and God’s place in that journey.
- For those looking to grow their knowledge of the God, the Bible, and others, we encourage connecting with one of our many small group opportunities.
- For those looking to grow one-on-one disciple-making opportunities, we are encouraging all of our small groups to spend time in a study called The Ways of the Alongsider. In addition, we are training people now in a ministry called Essentials.
- For those looking to discover how God has uniquely wired them, we are encouraging participation in a 5 week class called S.H.A.P.E.—finding and fulfilling your unique purpose in life. (S.H.A.P.E. launches Sunday mornings at 9:00 beginning Oct. 15.)
Does God love us just the way we are? Absolutely, but as Max Lucado has said, “God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus.”
Because God loves us, He is transforming our church, conforming us to the likeness of Christ.
Glad to be on the journey with you!
