Assets

It’s getting to be budget preparation time around the office. Any time I think about budget, I think about the idea of assets and liabilities – what value do we already have, and what negative value is holding us back? As I look at the state of our church, I feel very strongly that our greatest asset is the people God has called to this place. The amount of people in our body that I want to be like when I grow up is numerous. The amount of people who are dedicated and loyal servants is amazing. The number of people who are faithful financial supporters is encouraging.

I am reminded of Matthew 5: 14-16.  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so thatthey may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Church, we are literally on a hill (seriously, you can see our church from the other side of the river going south on 77). Are we shining our light before others well and providing light to “the whole house?” Is this a place that people look to for inspiration, hope, and most importantly, to see Christ? I see people shining within these walls – of that I am fully convinced. But what can you do this week to shine outside these walls? Let’s put our active Christian love in action for our neighbors, friends, and co-workers so that more people can experience the beauty of this group of believers.

Here are some things happening in the upcoming weeks:

Ash Wednesday

Please join us for our annual Ash Wednesday worship service on March 5 at 6:30pm. Experience this long-celebrated day in a fresh way with us. This is a great opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor. Childcare will not be available during this service – your children are welcome to attend with you!

Freedom Weekend

Faith4Freedom invites you as we join other churches in our community in the fight against human trafficking. Attend Freedom Weekend 2014 on March 8 & 9 at Berean Baptist and Community of Hope Church. For details pick up a flyer in the lobby or contact Deb at dsdevine@charter.net

Women’s Ministry Spring Retreat

We are now taking registrations for our spring retreat at Villa Maria on May 16-18. It will be a great weekend with time to slow down, enjoy time with friends new and old, and grow closer to God. Deposit of $50 required; double and single rooms available. Sign up in the lobby or contact jsorensen@faithcovenant.org for more information.

Faith Connect

Whether this is your first Sunday at Faith or you have been kicking the tires around here for a while, we want to invite you to our Faith Connect lunch on Sunday March 9 at 12:15pm in room 200. This is intended to give you information about our church, answer questions, and point you in the right direction to get involved with a small group or volunteering. Childcare will be provided. RSVP to Carrie at cgoff@faithcovenant.org

Small Group Spring Launch

We are excited to launch several new and some continuing small group opportunities on Sunday, March 9. On that date you will be given a time to connect with leaders, ask questions about groups, and sign up. Please be praying about connecting with a small group and seeing what kind of plans God has for you this spring.

Save the Date – MOMS concert

Mark your calendars for their 12th Annual Benefit Concert and Silent Auction. It will be at Faith on Saturday, April 5th.

Kitchen Table?

We are remodeling some of our spaces to make them more efficient ministry spaces, and we are doing it on a dime. We are in need of a kitchen table that can seat 6-8 people for one space in particular. If you have one not being used that you would care to donate, we’d love to speak with you. Please contact Brian at bmartin@faithcovenant.org. Thanks!
