Autumn is Coming – Indeed!

Posted on Aug 6, 2015 in Faith Updates

I’m still chuckling at the fact that I was decidedly “BOO-ed” during announcement time last Sunday morning when I mentioned that fall is coming. Perhaps a gentler word would be Autumn? 🙂

For my part, Autumn is my favorite of all seasons. It’s a beautiful, crisp, cozy, refreshing time of year – a fresh new start on many fronts. No matter how you look at it or feel about it, the reality is – fall is coming, and fall is beautiful in its own right. Regardless of which season you love, we are blessed to experience all four on an annual basis here in MN.

A song near and dear to my heart is titled Every Season, by Nichole Nordeman. Nichole is both poet and musician, and her words speak to the changing seasons of life using terms typically associated with nature and weather. Here’s the link – take a listen!

Whether you love fall or dread fall, it’s just around the corner, and it promises to be a fresh season of new life, a new rhythm, and new possibilities and options for growth in relationship here at FCC – both with God and with one another. Won’t you join us?

See you Sunday…

Here’s What’s Coming Up at Faith

Finding Fruit VBS

If you have a child, grandchild, neighbor/friend in grades 1-6, invite them to sign up tomorrow for the first day of VBS at 8:45am. VBS continues through Thursday. It is from 8:45am-3pm each day, and is $8/child/day. Kids can attend any or all of the 4 days. The VBS theme is Finding Fruit.

Prayer for Search Committee

Please come to the Legacy Chapel immediately after Sunday’s worship service to pray for our Search Committee. This is an easy way to be an important part of the process of calling our new lead pastor. The committee is thankful for your faithful prayer support.

Revive Twin Cities

Be part of a life-changing “mission trip” to the south metro as we partner for a second year with the ministry Revive Twin Cities. This year’s event will be at Faith on August 15 from 8:30am-1:30pm. We are excited to be joined that morning by Pastor John Foley, who will be part of the leadership team! For more information and to sign up, go to

War Room Movie Tickets

Faith Covenant attendees, family and friends have a remarkable opportunity to see a powerful movie on the POWER OF PRAYER at the nominal cost of $5/family. The movie is called “War Room” and is the latest movie from the producers of “Courageous”, “Fireproof” and “Facing the Giants”.  These specially-priced tickets are available for a preview showing on August 26 at 7pm, at the Apple Valley Carmike 15, 15630 Cedar Ave. This  is a family movie and is good for children school-aged and older. Tickets are available at Faith, in the lobby, before and after worship services August 9, 16 and 23. Join us for this victorious story of a disintegrating family touched by the power of prayer.

Fall Events and Dates

We want everyone to be aware of and to join the programs/events happening at Faith this fall! If you did not receive the fall events insert that was in the bulletin last week, please pick one up at the Welcome Desk in the lobby. We’d love you to take it home, note the dates and join us in worship, learning and fellowship!

Pastoral Search Team

The Search Team continues to make progress towards identifying the next Senior Pastor of Faith Covenant. We had our first round of discussions specific to individual candidates on July 27.  Being covered in prayer by members of the congregation prior to the start of our meeting set the tone for a meeting centered on the Spirit. Continued prayer is requested. We continue to focus on the characteristics identified in the Senior Pastor Job Description as our framework for reviewing potential candidates. Please contact us at to request a copy of the job description, provide comments, or ask questions.

Faith Food Outreach

Sign up in the lobby to volunteer at tomorrow’s food distribution, where an hour or two of your time can make a real impact in the lives of the 300+ families we serve each time from our community. We also need donations of children’s books and stuffed animals; please drop off at the Welcome Desk. Contact Beth at with questions.
