Faith Covenant Church

Even as I write this, I’m enjoying the quiet companionship of an old dog – our 12 ½ year old lab, whose moans and groans cause me to chuckle. I’m looking at her even now, stretched out on the living room rug, lazily enjoying doing nothing. Just plain content. Life hasn’t always been that way for her – it took a good (long) five years for the puppy in her to begin to settle down, and now she is simply content. She doesn’t need to run and chase and chew. Just being near her people is enough.

So it is with many elderly couples I am blessed to spend time with.

I encourage you, if it’s not a natural part of your rhythm, to spend some time with a couple that has been together for decades. They’ve certainly “done time” running and chasing and chewing… but now, just being with one another is enough. It’s a beautiful thing to witness a couple content to just be. Together. The unspoken words between them speaking volumes, the shared memories and private moments that can’t be put into words. The unparalleled loss experienced when one of them passes away. There are simply no words. But many lessons to be learned and blessings to be shared.

Join us this Sunday for week 4 in our series on Marriage. Whether you’re single, newly-married, raising young ones, or have been married for decades, this week’s message is for you!

See You Sunday,
