Happy New Creation!

Posted on Mar 23, 2017 in Faith Updates

I didn’t grow up with a proper understanding of spring. When I was growing up in Phoenix, spring wasn’t really a big deal. Life simply went from sunny to sunnier. But when I moved to Minnesota 25 years ago, spring and I became fast friends! Wow! In Minnesota I became one of the frozen chosen—a people-group of winter survivalists clad in down and wool, sojourning through a land where every-day-people could literally walk on water! But then spring would come, and it would…admittedly still be cold, but it would be less cold! And even though we couldn’t/can’t see it yet, coursing underneath our feet and through the limbs of our trees new creation is about to burst forth! And, yes, while we still have a few more weeks of Lent, Easter morning is right around the corner!

This first week of spring then is a great time to celebrate the new creation God’s bringing to our lives and our church. Celebrate these words of the Lord with me!

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17,

“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.” Colossians 3:10

“The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him … God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (The Message)

Our life at Faith Covenant this spring is going to be a continual journey into God’s new creation. Join me in prayer this week as we anticipate with great faith the lives born anew as the power of His new creation is proclaimed in the good news of Jesus Christ this new season. And be in prayer for whom you might invite to hear the good news of Christ this Easter at Faith!

For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19

Praise Him for Spring!

Here’s What’s Happening at Faith

Easter E-vite and Facebook Banner

How about letting your Facebook and email friends know when our Easter services will be held?! Click HERE to download an Easter graphic that can be sent in an email or used as your Facebook banner on your homepage. This is a very easy, non-threatening way to open the door to conversations about how much God loves each of us! Let’s share that with those we care about!

Easter at Faith

This Easter, Resurrection Sunday will be Restoration Sunday. Together we will celebrate the amazing way Jesus restores our lives to make masterpieces for His kingdom. Easter will be a great opportunity to invite friends and family who do not have a church home to Faith, so be in prayer now for whom you might invite! We will celebrate with two services April 16, 9 and 11am.

Easter Sunday Flowers

If you would like to donate flowers to be displayed Easter Sunday in honor or memory of a loved one, please fill out an order slip in the lobby or at Faith’s main office. We will accept orders through Sunday, April 9. Flowers will be offered by free will donation and then be given to Meals On Wheels the week after Easter to be delivered to shut-ins.

Romania Mission Trip Meeting

Nick Madsen, Faith’s Director of Youth and Outreach, is leading two trips this summer to Romania. This mission is to run a Bible camp and share the love of Jesus with abandoned/orphaned children. If you want to understand more about the mission please join Nick for an informational meeting this Sunday, March 26, immediately after our worship service.

Faith Family on The City

We are excited to announce that our church family will soon be using an on-line tool called “The City”! We feel that this platform will extend our capacity for community and ministry by giving us a place to join groups, build relationships and find new ways to connect and do ministry together. It will simplify communication, encourage community involvement and give ministry teams an easy way to organize. This single place will be dedicated to help us all stay connected to all that God is doing in and through Faith Covenant. Watch for more details on our launch, April 9.

Galactic Starveyors Camp (VBS)

Save the date! Galactic Starveyors Camp (our Vacation Bible School) will be held here at Faith Covenant the week of June 12. It will run from Monday through Thursday; 9am to noon for K-5th graders and 11am-noon for any child younger than Kindergarten and their grown up. There will also be a Thursday evening worship rally at 7pm for all the children that have attended and their families. More details to come along with an easy to use online registration.

Believer Baptism

If you’re ready to take a leap of faith and surrender your life to God’s love and grace in the sacrament of baptism, we will be offering believer baptism during worship Sunday, April 30. All who have received Christ as Lord and Savior and have not been baptized are invited to participate. We do ask that you meet with Pastor Char before Easter Sunday (April 16) so we can be sure we’re partnering well and praying for you ahead of time. Contact Char at crotvold@faithcovenant.org to schedule an appointment.

Talking with Kids About Jesus

This class, scheduled April 2, will be postponed until a later date.
