Happy Summer, Faith Covenant Church!
Posted on Jun 9, 2016 in Faith Updates
While the lakes and cabins are filling up with sun-bathers and fishermen (and women), your Faith Covenant staff is hard at work preparing our church family for a big fall kick-off! Here are some sneak-peeks at what’s exciting us in June as we prepare for September!
Community Bible Experience—an 8 week congregational reading of the New Testament
The Bible is God’s supernatural word. This fall we’ll be going on an 8-week congregation-wide journey through a very unique reading of the New Testament. Learn more about the Community Bible Experience.
We have a new Children’s Ministry Director!!!
I am very proud to announce our own Vicki Newendorp has been chosen to lead our very important Faith Covenant Church children’s ministry. Vicki has been a committed member and servant at Faith Covenant Church for 10 years. She has an undergraduate degree in elementary education, served with Campus Crusade for Christ for 6 years, and is already a beloved and familiar face to the children of Faith. Simply put, Vicki loves kids and loves Jesus, and we can’t wait to see what God is going to do through her ministry with us!
(Oh! Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone, but our search team is getting ever-closer to hiring a new Director of Student Ministries!)
We’re hiring a new position—Director of Operations and Community Connection
Our beloved Business Manager, Carol Olinger, is beginning the process of moving toward retirement so we have begun to craft a new staff position out of Carol’s present role and our future needs. The new Director of Operations and Community Connection will be responsible for stewarding our building and the human resources of our staff to connect with the community we’re called to serve. This staff member will be a constant advocate for the unchurched visitor in our midst assuring our building and systems best serve those new to Faith Covenant Church. If you or someone you know at Faith is interested in applying for this job, email your resumé to.
In addition to these exciting things, we are re-visioning our children’s, youth, and adult ministries on Wednesday nights to best grow families of faith at Faith Covenant Church.
God has given us a God-sized vision—to see Jesus Christ renew hearts, homes, and cities. Join us in prayer daily for His power to fuel His mission.
Blessed to serve Him with you!
Here’s What’s Happening at Faith
Annual Meeting for Faith Members/Attenders
The annual meeting for Faith Covenant Church will be held at 11:45am on July 10. We will be electing two new members to the church council and voting on the budget for 2016-2017. A Town Hall meeting to review the budget and answer any questions you may have will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 10am and 6:30pm. Both meetings will cover the same information, so choose to attend either as fits your schedule.
All Church Garage Sale for Missions
Faith’s All-Church Garage Sale returns this summer on July 14 & 15. This year, all proceeds will go to the MOMS Program. Everyone at Faith can help this sale be a success by gathering donations at home and/or volunteering to help! Donations for the sale will be accepted Sunday, July 10 from 2-7pm and Monday & Tuesday, July 11 & 12 from 5-8pm. Volunteers will be needed the week of July 10 for set-up, clean-up, or help on sale days. If you can help, please sign up in the lobby on June 19 & 26 or contact Rachel at 651.334.5938 or email@example.com
Student Mission Trip Fundraisers
This summer 17 junior and senior high students and 4 leaders will travel to Fairmount, IL, with TeenServe to paint, repair homes and form relationships with the homeowners. Today the “Wall of Money” will be featured in the lobby to fundraise for the cost of the bus. Please help by going to the “wall” in the lobby, deciding how much you can give, and following the directions from there. There are 150 ways to help, so there is something for everyone and every budget. We hope you can partner with our students and their families to make this affordable for all who are going on this life-changing mission. There is also a donation board for some necessary tools that you could help provide as well. Those tools should be turned in by June 26.
Summer Girls Study
A new study for girls ages 15-22 is beginning next week, Wednesday, June 15 from 7:30-9pm. The informal meet, greet and informational meeting will be held at the Heart of the City park (Caribou, if raining). The book is “The Uncommon Woman” by Susie Larson. Contact Mackenzie Madsen (firstname.lastname@example.org), Renee Kegley (email@example.com), or Lisa Boldenow, 952.270.5181 with questions.
Decision America Tour with Franklin Graham
Franklin Graham is traveling to all 50 states in 2016 to hold prayer rallies, to preach the Gospel, and to challenge believers to take a stand and take action. He’ll be urging Christians to vote, to live out their faith in every part of their lives, and to pray for our nation. The Minnesota rally is scheduled for 12noon on June 16 at the state capital in Saint Paul. A bus will be provided to bring any interested Faith Covenant attenders to the rally. It will leave from Berean Baptist Church (309 E Cty Rd 42) at 10:45am, returning at 2:15 pm. Go to decisionamerica.com for more information about the rally.
Jonah Sermon Series Closing Prayer
We leave today, Lord, running to You, not away from You.
We carry the good news of Your grace
for You are merciful and compassionate,
slow to anger, filled with unfailing love.
Make us ambassadors of the peace of Christ
as we swim in the unforced rhythms of Your grace.
