Faith Covenant Church

Invest & Invite

Posted on Nov 16, 2017 in Faith Updates

If we were to sit down and share stories of how most of us came to Faith Covenant, I’m guessing most of those stories would revolve around an intentional relationship where someone who loved us invested in our lives and then invited us to join them in the journey of faith. Often we think sharing the good news of the gospel or evangelism is a ministry reserved only for the Billy Grahams of the world. Not true! All of us are called to invest in the lives of others and invite them along the journey.

So whom has God laid on your heart these days? These next 6 weeks with Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner are perfect times to intentionally invest love into the lives of the spiritual seekers in our midst, and invite them along for the journey. We at Faith have sought to provide some great all-church, bring-a-friend, invest and invite opportunities for you. Let me remind you of 3!

Celebrate the Child with actor/writer/comedian Curt Cloninger
Because of my experience as an actor, my bar is pretty high when it comes to picking an actor to come and perform at our church. Curt is going to hit this one out of the park. He is a first class actor. Look at what this great Christian writer says about Curt: “Watching Curt in action is something to behold. He has the power to hold an audience in the palm of his hand. Most wonderfully, he uses that power to lead them to Jesus, in very entertaining ways. A great talent for the Kingdom” (Phillip Yancey, best-selling author). Get your tickets soon and don’t come alone! Sunday, Dec. 3 @ 6:30 PM.

Meatball Dinner and Christmas Carol Sing
In a season of glitz and tinsel, it’s a gift to offer our community a simple evening of warm fellowship and Christmas hymns. I’m so thankful for the family at Faith and I so would love for your friends and family to experience the warmth of a simple meal and some good congregational singing with us. Join us Wednesday, Dec. 13. Dinner is at 5:30pm in the lower level and singing is at 6:30pm in the Legacy Chapel. Tickets are required for dinner: $8/adult 16+; $4 children 4-15, children 3 & under are free. Tickets may be purchased in the lobby starting November 26.

Christmas Eve at Faith Covenant Church!
It’s not too early to begin to pray about whom you will invite to Christmas Eve this year. We will have two identical services on Christmas Eve (10:15 AM and 4:00 PM). Each will present the good news of Jesus Christ in wonderfully creative and compelling ways. Our theme this year is Coming Home for Christmas—coming home to faith. We know our hearts are always restless until they find their home in Him. Let us all join together in sharing the Christ-child with those around us.

So grateful we get to do this together!
Pastor Brad

Here’s What’s Happening at Faith

Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service

Please join us on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 22 at 6:30pm, as we usher in another holiday season by focusing our hearts and our minds on Jesus Christ, our source of joy and peace amidst the hustle and bustle of life. Come as you are and be encouraged as we pause to remember that true peace and gratitude come as we set our minds on things above. Plan to stay and enjoy a cookie and fellowship after the service.

Celebrate the Child Bring-a-Friend Event

What better way to begin the Advent season than by gathering together to hear the story of Christmas in a fresh, powerful way? Come to national actor/writer/comedian Curt Cloninger as he brings his one hour Christmas show, Celebrate the Child, to our church, Sunday, December 3 at 6:30pm. This family-friendly event is sure to bring laughter, reflection, and perhaps a tear as Curt intersperses the story amidst familiar Christmas carols. This is an excellent bring-a-friend event! Tickets are $10/adult, and $5 for children (children 4 and under are free), and will be for sale in the lobby on Sundays or by calling the church office during the week at 952.890.3110.

A Christmas Gathering Invitation

A Christmas Gathering is an wonderful opportunity to bring women together for a time of warm fellowship and light food, sharing of Christmas traditions, and a non-threatening presentation of the meaning of Christmas. More than any other time of year, people are open to spiritual discussions. A Christmas Gathering, held Wednesday, December 6 at 6:30pm, is a wonderful outreach to family, friends, and neighbors; as you invite them to share an enjoyable evening of holiday joy and hear about the greatest Christmas gift of all. RSVP by Monday, December 4 to Ellen if childcare is needed.

MOMS Baking & Christmas Bake Sale Fundraiser

The ever popular bake sale benefiting the MOMS Program will be held Sunday, December 3, before and after the service in the lobby. Look for cinnamon rolls, special cookie plates and other goodies. Our popular Lefse and Krumkake are available for pre-orders at $6.00/package each to be picked up that day. Please call the MOMS office, 952.890.5072, or email Jenny at programmanager@momsprogram.org to pre-order. Any of these treats make wonderful holiday gifts!

FaithKids Christmas Program

Our FaithKids will present their Christmas Program during the worship service on December 10, complete with costumes and all the wonderful moments that come as kids tell and sing the Christmas story. Kids will be practicing during parts of their FaithKids Sunday time over the next few weeks, including Thanksgiving weekend. All kids are welcome to participate. This is also a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend (kids to participate or people to watch!). Contact Vicki for more information.

Evening Security Volunteers

In wishing to be a church that makes an impact in our community, Faith offers our building to several groups throughout the week for meetings and events. Because we also need to be good stewards of the building/resources we have, we rely on volunteer security to man the receptionist desk during these evenings. Can YOU be one of those volunteers? We have shifts throughout the month that need coverage for 2-2.5 hours per evening. For more information or to sign up, please contact Kevin at 612-290-5854 or kelcorp@yahoo.com
