“Where meek souls will receive Him still,
the dear Christ enters in.”
O Little Town of Bethlehem

The Christmas season is upon us, Faith!
Fa-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la!

And with this season comes the great act of gift giving. I pray you are strategically mapping out your Christmas shopping battle plan. Our friends and loved ones will be blessed as we thoughtfully choose the gifts to set underneath their tree. But here’s a question I want all of us to ponder these next 24 days: Who in your life most needs the gift of the Christ-child this Christmas?

Each of us is surrounded by people who do not yet know how crazy in love God is with them. Is there someone at work, someone down the street, a family member God might be putting on your heart right now? As you think of your gift giving this Christmas, how about prioritizing giving to someone who has yet embrace the newborn King?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Give the gift of prayer. Make a commitment starting today to pray every day until Christmas for the person God has laid on your heart.
  • Give the gift of time. Let this person know you want to spend time with them. Take them out for coffee. Invite them over to make cookies. Emmanuel means “God with us.” Christmas can be a lonely time for many. Be with them.
  • Give an actual gift. Is there a simple gift you could give this person that they would find meaningful? Something unexpected from your heart that they would cherish? Make the plans today to give it to them!
  • Give the gift of the gospel. At our Christmas Eve services (2:00 and 4:00), we will thoughtfully and creatively share the good news of Christ in a way that won’t embarrass you or your friend. Christmas Eve is an easy invite: “Hey, do you have a place to celebrate on Christmas Eve? My family and I would love to have you join us at our church!”

Love gives. It’s why God gave. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

In Him,
Pastor Brad

Here’s What’s Happening at Faith

Name Tag Sunday

To encourage community and give us all the opportunity to get to know someone new in the congregation, we ask that you wear a name tag this Sunday during worship service. They will be in the lobby on the high-top tables or at the welcome desk. Please write one out and put it on before service.

New Member Welcome

Please join us this Sunday in welcoming these people as new members at Faith Covenant: Michael and Christine Blanchard; Jodi Deneen; Thomas and Janet Glueck; Leon and Carole Goldenman; LaVonne Palmquist; Karri Pearson; and Nakia and Holly Sheppard. Please take a moment to greet them in the lobby after service; they will be wearing a boutonniere for easy identification.

Advent Event

Take some time to usher in the Christmas season at our annual Advent Event, this Sunday, in the Legacy Chapel.  This family-friendly open house will run from 9-10:15am and 11:30-12 (before and after the worship service). Create an Advent craft to help celebrate the true meaning of the season, put together a gift to reach out to a friend or neighbor, and enjoy some time connecting over activities and goodies that celebrate the birth of Jesus.
