J the B
Posted on Oct 15, 2015 in Faith Updates
If you were at church this past Sunday, you may remember Pastor Kyliah’s description of John the Baptist. According to the Bible, J the B is described as a man who wore clothes out of camel’s hair who ate primarily locusts and wild honey. When John taught, scripture tells us that he sometimes shouted to the crowds and got into arguments with some of the Jewish leaders. He likely smelled bad, had a little too much body hair, and was a bit overdue for a manicure and pedicure. Chances are that because of the way he looked and acted, and by what he ate, some likely considered him a crazy person.
But John had a purpose. That purpose was so great, that the Old Testament prophets told about him long before.
John’s purpose was to prepare the way for the coming of Jesus. Scripture reveals that he was fully aware of this purpose and that he did it with great passion.
As you and I go about our days, we encounter many different people. These people may be co-workers, friends, family, bus drivers, or complete strangers. As we encounter these people, are we interacting with them like John would have? Are we living out our call from Jesus to make disciples?
Jesus told us that he is coming again. Are we preparing the way for him?

FCC Quarterly Update
This fall’s quarterly business meeting will take place on Sunday, November 8 in the form of a Quarterly Update (due to the fact that there are no voting items at the present time). Council will share key updates during the worship service, a typed sheet will be in the lobby for attendees to take home, and council members will be available in the library immediately following worship to answer any questions you may have. Be sure to pray for and thank our council and pastoral search team for the gifts of time and prayer they so faithfully sacrifice for the people and ministries at our church!
Third Grade Bibles
Each year Children’s Ministry and Faith Covenant Church are honored to partner with our families in the presentation of a Bible to each of our 3rd grade students. This year we will be presenting this during worship services on November 1. Parents please watch for a letter with information regarding this service. If you feel we do not have current information for your family, please contact Children’s Ministry – email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
