I remember when I first tasted it. It was the summer before my freshman year in high school. I was up at my local Covenant Bible camp—Alpine. It’s a beautiful place up in the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California.
I was out on the basketball courts shooting around by myself during our afternoon free time. The sun was shining, a gentle breeze, and suddenly I felt compelled to stop. I don’t know why or how, but somehow I knew I was to go up to the chapel.
I grabbed my ball and walked the path, hiked the steps, then went through the door and sat down in one of the pews. And as I sat there alone with nothing but the sound of the gentle wind bending the pine trees in the distance, I knew I wasn’t alone. The Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit washed over me in wave upon wave of grace and gentleness, and I’d never felt so loved. It was as if the veil between heaven and earth had become exceptionally thin, and the result was pure, unspeakable joy. I knew then I could live like this, satisfied forever.
I believe I tasted that day what Jesus, in the fourth chapter of John, calls “living water.” He says to the woman at the well: “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water…whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:10, 14).
Faith, We live in a very thirsty world where too many people are tapping too many poisonous wells looking for living water. What thirsty friend can you reach out to today? Who needs your prayers right now so they too might find Jesus’ living water? Or maybe the thirsty person is you! Wonderful! I have good news! The water is free! Seek Christ and you will find the “water welling up to eternal life.”
“Let those who are thirsty come; and let all who wish take the free gift of the water of life.”
Here’s What’s Happening at Faith
Easter Services and Brunch
Easter Sunday is March 27 and we will offer two services, at 9am & 11am. We will be sharing the eternity-changing message of the Gospel with every person who walks through our doors. Please be praying about who you can invite to service that day! Also don’t forget to buy a ticket to the Easter brunch offered that morning, sponsored by our youth as a fundraiser for their summer mission trip. Tickets can be purchased in the lobby today through March 20.
If you would like to donate flowers for Easter Sunday in honor or memory of a loved one, you may do so in the lobby today through Sunday, March 20. Flowers will be displayed on Easter Sunday and will then be donated to Meals On Wheels the next week to be delivered to shut-ins.
