Faith Covenant Church

Not Meant To Journey Alone

Posted on May 19, 2016 in Faith Updates

Recently, I was talking with a colleague in ministry when the topic turned, as it often does, to reflecting on how each of us had experienced church throughout our lives. Each of us were raised in the church and, while we each attended different congregations, some common themes emerged.

We shared stories of closeness to family, of hearing a language we did not hear anywhere else, stories that spoke of a sense of belonging, and stories of the divine breaking into the ordinary.

And that, I think, is what makes being a part of the church great! As Pastor Brad ended his Faith Update last week, “we don’t walk this journey alone”.

Throughout the biblical narrative, it is clear that God did not intend for God’s people to be alone. Ours is a shared story, one we see modeled to us before creation in the shared life of the interconnected Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are a people, working together, seeking to order our priorities to match those of God.

Faith Covenant Church is a community on a journey, doing just that kind of work, and it has been a privilege to serve with you for a brief time while on this journey. Now, journey’s are never easy, and the path may not always bend they way we would like. But it is together that any obstacles we encounter are overcome. It is through being united in faith, hope, and love —as the people of God— that we see God move and work in our world.

My prayer is that Faith Covenant Church be a place that is able to live out of its full potential. That the people of Faith would journey well together, pursuing both Christ’s priorities and Christ’s priorities in this world. God’s Grace and Peace be with you!

We are grateful that in our time of need, they were available and prayerfully said Yes! We are grateful for their faithful service during a key time of transition. We are grateful to have entrusted our kids and our students to their spiritual care and friendship these past 10 months. And we are grateful for their voices on our staff team. Please join us for a cake reception in the lobby following the worship service and extend your personal thanks to them. Please be in prayer for the new faces that God will call to lead our children and youth into the next season!
