Outreach Faithfulness

Posted on Mar 16, 2017 in Faith Updates

Greetings Faith Covenant Church Family!

I love seeing all the great things that God is doing with our church community this year, and I want to share an outreach story with you of  something that happened last month. We had a small team bag groceries at Cub Foods north of our church for 2 hours on a Tuesday night. I was worried because I felt that I hadn’t promoted this event very well, but God is always faithful and He gave us a fun filled night serving Him.

We had four volunteers (including myself) meet at Cub. The store only had around 6 checkout lanes open, and we asked random people if we could bag their groceries while passing out Kindness Cards. At first this felt very awkward as we were rejected by a few people when we began, but very quickly it became a lot of fun as people were touched by our acts of kindness. We must have passed out at least 100 Kindness Cards in the 2 hours we were there and the time went by very quickly. It was fun to see the gratitude from so many that we served. Some even asked if they could pay us for our service, but we gladly declined as told them that our service was a reminder that Jesus loves them.

We are prayerfully planning more outreach events and I’m looking forward to serving our nearby communities with you! Please watch for more information on a door-hanging campaign that will invite our neighbors to our Easter services at Faith.

Have a blessed week, and see you on Sunday!
Nick

Here’s What’s Happening at Faith

Quarterly Congregational Meeting

Please join the Council for a quarterly business meeting this Sunday, March 19 after the worship service (~11:45am). A short financial report will be given as well as an update on some work the council has undertaken to refresh and update our facility. No votes will be taken but the council wants to share the progress that has been made. Meeting will be in the Legacy Chapel and childcare will be provided.

Romania Mission Trip Meeting

Nick Madsen, Faith’s Director of Youth and Outreach, is leading two trips this summer to Romania. This mission is to run a Bible camp and share the love of Jesus with abandoned/orphaned children. If you want to understand more about the mission please join Nick for an informational meeting Sunday, March 26, immediately after our worship service.

Talking with Kids About Jesus

Have you ever wondered how to have a meaningful conversation with a child about Jesus? As adults, learning how to help a child along in their spiritual journey is one of the sweetest skills we can develop. Join us April 2 at 11:45am as we explore how to lead a child to Christ, with practical tools and verses that will help you explain the ABCs of beginning a relationship with Jesus and becoming a Christian. As we trust God’s Spirit to work in our children’s lives, let’s also be prepared for the conversations stirring in their hearts. This GROW opportunity is encouraged for parents, grandparents, caregivers, and our children’s ministry volunteers, but all are invited to attend. Lunch and childcare provided with reservation; contact Lynn at lnunn@faithcovenant.org.

Easter Sunday Flowers

If you would like to donate flowers to be displayed Easter Sunday in honor or memory of a loved one, please fill out an order slip in the lobby or at Faith’s main office. We will accept orders through Sunday, April 9. Flowers will be offered by free will donation and then be given to Meals On Wheels the week after Easter to be delivered to shut-ins.

Galactic Starveyors Camp

Save the date! Galactic Starveyors Camp will be held here at Faith Covenant the week of June 12. This is a camp for children, put on by our Faith Kids ministry team. Watch for more details.

Breakfast and Banter Men’s Group

Hey Men of Faith! A new men’s group is starting up led by Tim Wittenburg. Meet at Caribou Coffee, 6:30-7:30am, Fridays, 2001 Cliff Road East, Burnsville. The format is fellowship, discussion of Sunday sermon notes and prayer.
