You ever have one of those days where you feel like you have been running around so much, yet you can’t seem to get one thing done before being interrupted? And just when you think it can’t get any busier, imagine God hands you a baby. That was me around Christmas. You could say I was a bit overwhelmed and exhausted by the end of it.
Yet, I am reminded that God’s desire for us isn’t to rush around worrying about what needs to get done. His desire is that we trust in His timing and His provision. I am reminded of this in Isaiah 40:31. It reads…
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
I don’t know about you, but even thinking about running gets me tired – I hate running! But this verse says God gives us strength and endurance. If we trust in Him we can run and not grow tired or weary.
With this new year, I am going to keep that in mind. Instead of being worried about all the things the new year brings, I will trust in the Lord. Easier said than done, I know. But let’s try it today by taking the worrisome thought that pops into our head and replacing it with these simple words: “I trust you, God”.
See you Sunday,
