Seasons of Change
Posted on Jun 4, 2015 in Faith Updates
We are in a season of transition. Over the past year I have seen this theme repeated in my own life. With the welcoming of a new son come all sorts of “firsts”. In the church we have seen a season of transition and have had to say good-bye to some people who are very close to us.
In my own life, God is calling me to transition from Faith Covenant and into a new roll at Berean Baptist Church, here in Burnsville. Know that I did not go out looking for a job, but was called by a friend with a job offer, and one that I feel God has called me to. With that said, my last day at Faith will be June 14, 2015.
I will look back on the days here with fond memories. There are many here who I know and love. But know I have a sense of shalom peace (a complete peace without inner conflict) about this move that can only come from God.
I have no doubt that God’s hand is going to continue to work through Faith Covenant, even in this time of transition. Keeping fighting the good fight as Paul tells Timothy, and I say to you now Faith Covenant Church…
“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.” -1 Timothy 6:12-14
I will be at Faith for two more weeks. So don’t be a stranger!
As always, hope to see you Sunday,
HERE’S WHAT’S COMING UP
Town Hall Meetings
All Faith attendees/members are invited to attend one of our upcoming Town Hall meetings to discuss business and ask questions before the Annual Meeting in late June. These meetings will discuss the proposed 2015-16 fiscal budget, present the nominees for the open council positions, and provide an update on the Lead Pastor Search. Please mark your calendar and attend on one of these dates: Wednesday, June 10 at 10am or 7pm, or Sunday, June 14 at 9:30am.
Summer Sundays Worship Schedule
It’s that time of year again! The weather is warm, school is out, and new rhythms are upon us. We’re excited about that and look forward to enjoying worship as a church family this summer. To that end, we will move to one worship service weekly, Sunday mornings at 10am. This new rhythm will begin on Vision Sunday (our annual meeting) June 28 and run through Labor Day. Children’s ministry (birth-grade 4) will continue as usual during Summer Sundays. Grades 5-6 will not meet (however, they are welcome to either join the elementary kids or grab a sermon notes sheet at the Children’s Ministry check-in counter).
Concert of Prayer
Come demonstrate your love and passion for your church at a special prayer time on Tuesday June 23, at 6:30pm. We’ll be receiving some excellent teaching on prayer and be able to agree with God and one another for the plans he has for Faith Covenant. This comes at a perfect time as we prepare for our annual meeting on June 28 and as we pray over the search for a new senior pastor. This is for everyone, you’ll be blessed!
Women’s Summer Bible Study
The Women’s Ministry team would like to offer a summer study on Tuesdays at 6:30pm with Sarah Stadler’s book “Retold”. However, we need facilitators to lead the weekly discussion in order to make this happen. If you would be willing to share a week of serving in this way, please talk to one of the women’s team members in the lobby today. Study starts June 16. Book: $11.
Vision Sunday/Annual Meeting
Attention all who consider Faith Covenant your home church: this year’s annual meeting is for YOU! We’ve made some changes in order to include everyone who worships at Faith, hoping that many more will hear what we’re committed to, what we’re working on, and where we’re headed. To that end, our worship service on June 28th will begin with music and a vision-casting message and will end with staff/council updates and voting on a few key things (2015-16 budget and council positions). Hope to see you there!
