Seeking God’s Face

Posted on May 27, 2015 in Faith Updates

Good things happen when we seek God’s face, when we turn our attention, our hearts upon him.
“You have said, ‘Seek my face.’ My heart says to you, ‘Your face, LORD, do I seek.” – Psalm 27:8.
I also like the way this is written in the New Living Translation…
“My heart has heard you say, ‘Come and talk with me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.”
I find it interesting that the people of Israel cried out to the Lord at the Red Sea when they saw Pharoah’s army coming after them.  Sadly, they quickly turned their gaze from God and complained to Moses thinking they were certainly doomed.  Thankfully, Moses’ faith was a little stronger and he replied, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today.  For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.  The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:13-14).
Good things happen when we seek God’s face, when we wait on him, stand firm and know that he will fight for us.  I encourage you FCC to keep seeking God’s face.  It’s so easy to turn quickly away from his face and look at our situations from a nervous, frightened human perspective.  But that usually leads to a lot of unnecessary complaining, worrying, division, and so on.  Seek God’s face and seek the unity of the Spirit among you.
I am really excited about a Concert of Prayer we’re going to be having on Tuesday June 23rd at 6:30pm. I believe this is a tremendously important time to seek God’s face and favor for FCC going forward.  Please prayerfully consider joining us.  This is something for everyone. There will be great teaching and an opportunity to pray in whatever way your comfortable for God’s blessing, cleansing, and anointing for FCC and beyond.

Here’s what’s happening at FCC:

Pastoral Search Team

The team met with the Northwest Conference Superintendent for guidance in the search process. A group covenant has been agreed to that will guide how the team operates. The information gathering phase is in process and includes the job description, church and community profiles, and a summary of the congregational survey results. The next milestone is publishing the job posting. We are relying on God’s timing and ask for your continued prayers. Send us an email at with comments or questions.

New Member Welcome

Please join us Sunday morning, May 31, in welcoming these people as new members at Faith Covenant: Clete and Donna Mathiowetz, Tom and Pamela Mayfield, Kavan Rogness, and Robb and Linda Ziegelmeyer. They will be celebrated with a cookie reception in the lobby between first and second service, and will be wearing a boutonniere, for easy identification!

Town Hall Meetings

All Faith attendees/members are invited to attend one of our upcoming Town Hall meetings to discuss business and ask questions before the Annual Meeting in late June. These meetings will discuss the proposed 2015-16 fiscal budget, present the nominees for the open council positions, and provide an update on the Lead Pastor Search. Please mark your calendar and attend on one of these dates: Wednesday, June 10 at 10am -OR- 7pm, or Sunday, June 14 at 9:30am.

Concert of Prayer

How much do you love Faith Covenant? Come demonstrate your love and passion for your church at a special prayer time on Tuesday June 23, at 6:30pm. We’ll be receiving some excellent teaching on prayer and be able to agree with God and one another for the plans he has for Faith Covenant. This comes at a perfect time as we prepare for our annual meeting on June 28 and as we pray over the search for a new senior pastor. This is for everyone, you’ll be blessed!

Women’s Summer Bible Study

Join us as we look together at the lives of ten Biblical women, reading their stories as narrated in Sarah Stadler’s book “Retold”. There is much to be learned from those who have gone before us, as we see our own lives in their stories of trial and redemption and come to a deeper understanding of the greater story of God’s purposes. Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm, starting June 16. Register at Book was published locally, so  is not available in major bookstores. Faith copies: $11.

Walk for Life

Participation in the Amnion Crisis Pregnancy Center’s 25th Anniversary Walk for Life on Saturday, June 6th is a great way to save a life! This family-fun event helps Amnion provide pregnant women in crisis with free life-saving assistance and an opportunity to hear the Gospel message. Join our church Walk Team by contacting Walk Captain Deb Devine at or 952.432.2289.
