Shine

shining treeSomething struck me last week… I’m so blessed by the light of Jesus I see shining in peoples’ lives here at FCC.  When Jesus’ light is shining, you can’t help but notice. The shine, the brightness, caught my eye in a few circles of community.  I am so grateful to have caught a glimpse when I sat with a family going through tough end-of-life decisions and struggles.  God’s love was so radiant and pure in this family’s love for Him and one another.  I noticed when I visited my 90yr. old friend who’s so in love with Jesus and so excited to hear Him and see Him using her and shinning brightly through her.  I mentioned it briefly in my sermon last Sunday – but it is so encouraging when you come across those people who really are living and experiencing a deep trusting, loving relationship with their Lord.  What a gift it is to me and to many others who call FCC home.  May your lights continue to shine bright, may Jesus be the source and fan into flame the light He is burning inside you.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light!

P.S.  Here’s what’s going on around FCC

Christmas Eve at Faith

We’ve been exploring a series this month called “What I’m Not Doing For Christmas?”. But on Christmas Eve we are going to look at the opposite of that question: “What should we be doing for Christmas?”. Join us for a simple Christmas service with some of our favorite carols on December 24 at 2:30, 4:30 and 8:00pm. Care for children ages birth through 4 is available at 2:30 and 4:30pm. We hope to see you there.

When Christmas is Hard” Special Service

For many of us, the Christmas season bustles with joy and excitement as we bake, shop, wrap, and enjoy the company of others. But for others, this has been a difficult year, and Christmas is just another reminder that they are alone; that the finances aren’t there to purchase gifts; that there aren’t loved ones around to celebrate with. In recognition of this, we are offering a special Christmas Eve Service at 4:30pm, concurrently with our regular service. Because the good news is: Christ came for all of us, and history really did turn upside down at the birth of Jesus! Come and receive a dose of joy and encouragement, and invite someone you know who may not otherwise feel like celebrating.

Prison Ministry

FCC has been given the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Dakota County Jail for a Sunday morning chapel service every couple of months. If you have an interest in volunteering on this team or a desire to hear more, please contact Pastor John at jfoley@faithcovenant.org.

Women’s Ministry Spa Night

Ladies of all ages! Since last year’s evening was such a big hit, we’re delighted to invite you to our second annual SPA night! Mark your calendar(s) for Sunday, January 11, 6-8pm and plan to join us for an evening of food, fellowship, laughter, and well-deserved pampering (including Jamberry nails, chair massages, Mary Kay products, makeup, and a nail table, chocolate fountain, & popcorn bar). Be sure to bring your daughters, mothers, neighbors, coworkers and friends! This event is FREE; however, a basket will be available if you choose to make a donation to help offset costs. Please RSVP to Jen at jsorensen@faithcovenant.org so we know how much food to prepare.

CHIC

If you are interested in attending CHIC, July 11-18 in Knoxville, TN, be sure to turn in your trip packet by Jan. 7 with $100 deposit made out to Faith Covenant. The packet is available on our website. Students who are in 9-12th grade are invited to attend.
