Many of us are familiar with verse 16 in Genesis 2 that says,
“The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’”
Well, I have prayed for God to put a wife into my life for many years, and even though the wait was difficult it was worth it.
I’m more than excited to announce that Mandy and I are engaged to be married. All of this awesome news happened last Sunday. Since it was also my birthday, Mandy wanted to take me out for a surprise date. What she didn’t know is that I had had lunch with her parents the Wednesday before to ask them for their blessing in asking Mandy to be my wife.
I’m very grateful to let you know that they were more than happy to give me their blessing. I couldn’t think of anything that I wanted more for my birthday other than for Mandy to agree to spend the rest of our lives together. And I knew she wouldn’t have a clue if I were to propose on my birthday. Needless to say, she said “Yes!” and we both feel that this was from God.
As part of my proposal we read Genesis 2:20-25, Proverbs 31:10-31 and Ephesians 5:21-33. Then I said, “Mandy, I have searched for 10 years for a suitable helper, but have been unable to find one until I was blessed with you. Mandy, you more than exceed in being my Proverbs 31 woman. I promise that you will never feel worthless, or ashamed. I promise to never tear you down, but to only build you up. Will you marry me?”
Mandy and I are both grateful to God for answered prayers as we both know that our relationship is a gift from Him. God exceeded what I prayed for in a future wife with giving me Mandy, and I’m forever grateful for His blessings! Please keep Mandy and I in your prayers as we move forward in planning our future, and that ultimately, we put God always as first priority in our lives so we are able to be wonderful spouses to one another.
See you Sunday!
