My wife Jill and I are now Savages! Or is it Savagonians? Maybe Savagians? Never mind. What I mean to say is we have now settled into our new home in Savage, Minnesota! No more 27 mile commute for the Kindalls! No more hours stuck on 494 in traffic! Our new home is now a mere 6.5 mile bike ride from our church home. It feels good to wake up every morning and say, “We’re home!”
Now, of course, It wasn’t easy for us to find this home. Jill and I looked at more homes than I care to count. We not only had to consider price, but floorplan, distance from work, neighborhood, and all the intangibles. It had to feel right. Because we care about our home, we would not settle for just any home.
Just this week one of our Faith-20-somethings said this to me about home: “When people are looking for a church, they’re looking for a home!” So true! When people are looking for a church, they’re looking for a place and a community that feels like home.
How do we build such a home at Faith Covenant Church? Proverbs 23:3-4 gives us counsel: “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” I’m no architect but it seems we could write the design for as WISDOM + UNDERSTANDING + KNOWLEDGE = a home filled with rare and beautiful TREASURES. Who wouldn’t want to find that home on the MLS?!
As we in leadership at Faith continue to review the recently delivered Feasibility Study for the interior refresh of our physical home here on Nicollet, we are grateful for all who gave us their WISDOM through the meetings, personal interviews, and personal surveys. They have given us a wonderful UNDERSTANDING of the pulse of our congregation regarding our home. We now have important KNOWLEDGE to help us discern a path forward. We know that God is building rare and beautiful TREASURES in our congregation far beyond bricks and mortar for the treasure of the Church will always be Christ alive in us! He is our home, and He is the home to which we invite our neighbors and friends.
Over the next weeks you will be receiving access to the Feasibility Study and hearing more about leadership’s discernment regarding our church home. Will you please continue to join me in prayer as together we seek to build a home for saints and seekers at Faith Covenant Church!
