Worth Fighting For!
Posted on Feb 12, 2015 in Faith Updates
As you read this, our family is preparing our daughter for surgery and a lengthy recovery period. Unfortunately, one of the hazards of an athlete is injury – in our case, a torn ACL. Thankfully, among the benefits of youth are health and strength and, in our daughter’s case, a strong will to recover completely and return to play ASAP. There is a great deal of fight involved in recovery and rehab, and (in our case) the love of the sport makes the fight well worth it.
Our current sermon series is titled “The Fight of Your Life” and is all about naming those things worth fighting for. A sport is a valid thing to fight for, but even more worthy of a good fight are our marriages, our families, our church family, and our relationship with God (to name a few).
Stay strong, stay focused, and commit to the Fight! Remember: God’s family (aka The Church) is ready to stand and fight alongside you… God bless you this week!
See you Sunday,
Here’s What’s Coming Up
Agua Viva Valentine’s Day Childcare Fundraiser
The goal of the 2015 Spring Break Agua Viva team is to raise awareness for those without clean water to drink in rural Honduras (as they dig trenches and lay pipe, bringing clean water to a village) and, along with this awareness, to raise funds to help offset the cost of their trip. Team members will be offering childcare for children up to age 10 from 5-8:30pm on Valentine’s Day, at Faith Covenant. All must register their children through Eventbrite at https://eventbrite.com/event/15559338400/. A free will offering will be taken at the end of the evening.
Congregational Business Meeting
All are invited to attend a congregational business meeting this Sunday, February 15 at 12:15pm. Plan to join us as we vote to affirm Pastor John’s new transitional role and seek candidates for our church council and for our Senior Pastor Search Team. Childcare is provided.
Council Nominating Committee
A Nominating Committee has been created to fill upcoming vacancies on Faith’s council, including President, Vice President, and 3 “member at large” positions. The committee will ve soliciting candidates to present to the congregation for a vote at the Annual Meeting in June. If you would like to be considered for one of these open council positions or would like to nominate someone, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
