Faith,
How comfortable are you with change? Just imagine for a second the shepherds–another night, same old sheep, same old hill, same old sky, and then…
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:9-12
WOW! There’s no way around it! Christ makes a difference. Christ brings change. That’s why God didn’t send an angelic quartet to praise His coming. He sent an army of angels to sing:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14
The story would never have been told if Christ made no difference. It’s because Christ makes a difference that the shepherds, the angels, Mary, Joseph, and us are forever changed!
“But wait, Pastor Brad! What kind of change does He bring? I’m a little more comfortable with a Christ who makes NO difference.”
Now, that’s a great question and a common belief! So this will be our journey on Christmas Eve! We’re going to worship and share the Christ who makes a difference, how that difference is made, and why it’s forever good!
Should you come? Should you invite your family, friends, and neighbors? Well, let’s see…hmmm…only if you want to see lives changed for eternity!
