Greetings church!
Pastors Brad, Sara, and I are fresh back from the Midwinter conference of our denomination (which is really like a retreat). One thing the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) does well is live out our ethos as Mission Friends. Do you know that’s how we were originally known? Long before we organized (way back in the 1800s), the movement that later became the ECC began as groups of people whose friendships centered on their commitment to living Christ’s mission in and to this world. “Go into the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” was the thread that bound us together then and binds us together still.
Know that your pastors are returning energized and encouraged by the opportunity to gather with friends and colleagues from across the country. Know also that we are grateful to return to you, our church family, our local group of Mission Friends.
Join us this Sunday as we begin a new series based on Jesus’s prayer, as recorded in John 17. Sneak peek: included is a beautiful call to us to live as ONE, similar to the Mission Friends movement that began it all. Find the sermon notes here.
See you Sunday!
