There’s no disagreement. Our world is not well.
In the 5th chapter of John (1-15), Jesus comes to a pool where the sick have gathered looking for healing. There, next to the water, the Living Water (Jesus) asks a man who’s been there for 38 years if he wants what only Jesus can give–wellness. I find a sad solidarity with this man. We too often gather where the world has told us healing exists only to stay stuck there for decades in sickness.
In times like these, Jesus asks us too: “Do you want to get well?”
