Faith,

Do you recall that time you first chose Christ? Maybe you were a kid in vacation Bible school, or an adolescent at a summer Bible camp. Our new youth director, Joey Fasulo, and C. S. Lewis have something in common. Both of them became Christians as adults! Think of how those steps of faith changed your history!

But wait! Who chose whom first? What if the good news is not that we chose Christ but that Christ chose us? How did Jesus put it?

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last…” John 15:16

Let that sink in for just a moment. God chose you! And he didn’t do so after you cleaned up your act and assembled enough righteous brownie points to earn the choice. No, Ephesians 1:4-5 says…

“He chose us in him (Jesus) before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”

That’s right, it was God’s good “pleasure and will” to choose you to bear “fruit that will last.”

And so, my chosen brothers and sisters, I pray you will choose to be with us this Sunday! God has chosen us to bear some fruit that will last, and in so doing, our faith in Him will make history. We might even send a staff member to Zambia to get chosen!

Curious? See you Sunday!

In Christ alone,

Pastor Brad
