Hello Faith Family!
It’s my privilege this week to preach on Sunday, and I’m very thankful that I get that opportunity to do so. Every time I preach, I get a beautiful invitation to delve more deeply into Scripture. Sometimes I do this with passages that seem very familiar, yet God always teaches me something as I prepare.
Such was the case this week. We’ll be looking at Exodus 16, the story of how God miraculously provided manna and quail for the Israelites during their time in the desert. It’s a story that felt familiar to me as it likely is for many of you. I wondered what I’d be able to say about it.
At the same time, I was experiencing a heaviness that many of us are feeling right now about events happening in our state. How can I talk about manna and quail when my heart is so heavy for the community around me?
In God’s infinite wisdom and mercy, Exodus 16 ended up being the exact thing that I needed to refresh me. This story is about God’s radical provision in a desert season. I don’t know how I expected any less from God than for him to speak to me so tangibly this week through a text that I was set to teach on weeks ago. I’ve seen God do that time and time again, yet it often still surprises me.
One thing I will be highlighting in the sermon is a few ways to get involved with efforts to provide food for families sheltering in place during this season. It’s a practical way to show the love of Christ! Click here to find out more.
I look forward to being with you on Sunday. God bless you!
