Faith,
Have you ever had a stress test? I’ve had a couple of them. They can be stressful! Highly trained medical professionals place you on a treadmill with wires connected to your body. Then they tell you to walk, jog, and then RUN for your life on the treadmill! Your heart rate begins to rise and rise and rise, and just when you think they’re going to let you stop, they tell you to RUN some more! When you finally stop, they guide you, panting, sweating, and gasping for breath, to a table where they do a “heart check.” Why? A diseased heart leads to a diseased life and an early death. A stress test helps discern the condition of our hearts.
We’ve had a stress test in our culture. We had an election! That was stressful! So, how’s your heart? God is so in love with your heart! And, while yes, He cares about nations and elections and politics, His fundamental concern is your heart:
“Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
I pray you’ll join us these next two Sundays. We will turn the page from Kingdom Politics and do a bit of a heart check to ensure we’re ready for Advent. This time will be so nutritious for you and your family! Sunday worship is always part of a heart-healthy diet!
