Faith,
I have some bad news! Without Jesus we can’t do zilch, nada, nothing.
“What? Wait!”
Yep! It’s in our passage this week! “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)”
Now, of course, we might all think we do a lot of things “apart” from Jesus. Atheists don’t even believe in Jesus’ divinity and they do things. But could it be the very act of being can’t be separated from Jesus? What if our very ability to breathe, think, act is all gift? And what if there’s “fruit” to be had in our lives, relationships, church, and family if we simply remember any “produce” to be made will come from remaining in Jesus?
Bottom line: it is by Jesus, through Jesus, and for Jesus we live, move, and have our being. Our natural lives were made for a supernatural connection. And that supernatural connection is the solution for moving from “nothing” to God’s something.
