Are you a friend of Jesus?
“Is this a trick question, Pastor Brad?” Nope! Not at all! There’s a very specific way to know if you’re a friend of Jesus. It’s part of our text this week. Jesus says in John 15:14, “You are my friends if you do what I command.”
Hmmm…challenging statement, isn’t it? Here’s another question:
Would you like to remain in Jesus’ love?
“Sounds like another trick question, Pastor.” Not at all! In our text this week Jesus gives us a very practical way to remain in His love: “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love…” John 15:10.
I think all of us like the idea of being Jesus’ friend and remaining in His love. What we struggle with here is the word command. But could it be the command of Christ is a gift? And could it be the greatest gift you could give the world is being obedient to Christ’s command?
“But wait! What is His command?”
Join us this Sunday and we’ll unpack it together. We will grow in our love for Christ and our love for each other.
“The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.” Psalm 19:8b
I can’t wait for the Lord to give us the light of His commands this week!
