HI church!
What a treasure we have in God’s Word! What a rich written story God has left us with… to read and re-read and discover anew with each page who God is and who we are… what God values and what we are to value… what angers God and should anger us… what to avoid and what to pursue… what it looks like to love God and neighbor… and how we are to live as we pursue God’s glory and neighbor’s good.
If only it were as simple as one reading = total life change… but it’s not.
Church, the reading and re-reading of the story, the constant reminders and refreshers, the a-ha moments that come regularly… they are powerful reminders that the living Word changes us mightily, day by day by day by day… and that it matters that we gather to hear and reflect on the Word, week after week.
This week we find ourselves again in Exodus 18, using the text as the foundation from which we launch into our shared life and ministry as God’s family, the Church.
And it all started with a keen observation and wise counsel that Moses received from his father-in-law…
