Hello Faith Family!
Generally speaking, we all love to laugh. It’s a vital expression of joy that leaves a lasting imprint on our souls. Laughing can even leave an imprint on our faces! Certain wrinkles that some of us get as we age are fondly known as “laugh lines.” Laughter is a delight given by God.
But not all reasons for laughing are good reasons for laughing.
This week in Genesis 18, Sarah (Abraham’s wife) laughs when she hears God’s plan for her to have a baby at 90 years old! I sure can’t blame her for laughing. It’s a laughable idea for a woman who is biologically past the point of being able to bear children to have a child. Yet that’s what God tells Sarah will happen.
And so Sarah laughs about it. She wasn’t the only one to laugh at the idea. In Genesis 17, Abraham laughed at the idea too.
Sometimes God’s plans do not make sense to us, to the point where we find them laughable. It’s a human response. We laugh at things that seem insane or impossible, even when those things are God’s plans.
So… we laugh at God’s plans sometimes? Is that ok? Can we do that?
That’s what we’ll delve into on Sunday. We hope to see you there!
