Faith,
How’s your power meter these days?
“My what meter?”
I guess what I’m really asking is, how’s your energy level? How much gas is in your tank? Are you running on empty, or are you fully charged?
As I study the New Testament these days, I’m in awe of how often the Apostle Paul speaks of God’s power. Look at this example:
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:18-20
Paul’s praying that there is an “incomparable great power” available for “us who believe.” He says that the power available to us is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead! And then he says Jesus is far above all powers!
As we return to Moses this week, he will need some power. He’s been commissioned to confront the most powerful person in the land–Pharaoh. Moses knows he doesn’t have enough power to make this happen, but he knows the One who does! Our 80-year-old deliverer returns to Egypt carrying the staff of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, charged to 100% with the same power available to us through Christ Jesus.
It’s my prayer this week, Faith, that we will leave Sunday morning knowing the “incomparably great power for us who believe.” As one of my mentors used to say, “We have no shortage of resources, only excuses.”
Oh, also, we’ll have another testimony of faith this week — our youth director, Joey Fasulo!
See you Sunday!
In Christ alone,
Pastor Brad
