Faith,

We’re a week out from Thanksgiving! The fixings are flying off the grocery store shelves. The invites have been sent. The airports should be ready for travelers (hopefully)! I pray your preparations are going well, and the wild turkeys in our backyards will not turn on us!

So, what will your role be at this important family gathering? I remember the good old days as a kid. I had no role other than showing up, eating, and staying out of trouble. But then, as I got older, I learned one of the most important questions a maturing adult can ask on Turkey Day: “How may I help?” Jill’s and my kids are no longer kids. They’re learning that generous, gracious, maturing adults don’t come to a family function only to be served. They come to serve. Being a family is a team effort, and everyone gets to help with the dishes!

You know, a church is a family as well! Theologically, we are brothers and sisters of Christ. His Heavenly Father is our Heavenly Father, and His Church is our church. Its care and upkeep belong not to the City of Burnsville, or the denomination, or the Vatican. It’s our family home, and maturing Christians who take ownership of their church home also ask the most important question: “How may I help?”

I’m glad you asked! Here are two practical ways you can participate with your Faith family as we round the bend toward the end of the year:

  1. Sign up for regular, monthly giving to help us end the calendar year strong. Remember: 100% participation, no matter the amount.

  2. Register for the Capital Campaign Dinner on Saturday, December 6th, at 5 PM. Together, we can renovate our downstairs in ways that prepare for the next chapter of our family’s life!

Now, of course, if you’re a guest in the Faith family, there’s no need to participate in either of these endeavors. You’re our guest! You’re certainly welcome to participate and help, but that’s not expected of you. However, if you consider Faith Covenant Church your church home, grab a towel, come to serve, and help take care of the homestead. That’s what families do!

See you Sunday, Faith! We’ll find ourselves in God’s story as we journey through Exodus 12, the Passover, and the Lamb of God.

In Christ alone,

Pastor Brad
