Faith,
See if you can fill in this blank: “And I beg you! At dinner tonight, don’t bring up religion, politics, or _____________.”
Hint: The word has three letters, rhymes with “checks,” and is the topic our culture thinks God frowns upon most. It’s also the exact topic we’ll be talking about this Sunday!
As I shared last week, if we’re going to understand the 7th Commandment—”Do not commit adultery”—we first have to understand God’s purpose for marriage. (If you missed last Sunday’s message, you can watch it here.) Building on that, we also need to talk about God’s purpose for sex, which is our focus this week.
The good news is that God’s design for sex flows entirely from His goodness and love. The reality, however, is that many Christians struggle to articulate why this most intimate and pleasurable act should be reserved exclusively for a husband and wife. Over the next two weeks, we’ll discover why God’s purposes are always best and how we can represent Him well in a culture that is deeply confused about sex.
*A quick note for parents: These next two Sundays will be rated PG. Faith Kids will be available for all children from kindergarten through 5th grade.
In Christ alone,
Pastor Brad
