Faith,

Here are two options for this coming Sunday morning’s worship.

Option 1: Sleep in, enjoy breakfast at your leisure, gather for worship in your living room, pick a couple of songs you love, and stream a sermon you want to hear.

Option 2: Get up, get dressed, come to Faith Covenant Church, sing a few songs you might not love, and listen to a sermon you might not feel like hearing.

Doesn’t Option 1 seem best? Yet Option 2 is the one God has prescribed for His people. Why?

I think one reason is that Option 2 places you alongside people you might disagree with. Option 2 requires you to extend grace when things don’t go your way. Option 2 asks you to listen to things you may not want to hear. In short: Option 1 is all about you, but Option 2 is all about Him.

Fundamentally, our God is a God of togetherness. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit embody unity, while the enemy seeks to divide. When God poured His Holy Spirit out on the Church, believers ran toward each other—not away. Look at what happened:

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. — Acts 2:42–47

These words are our focus for the next three weeks as we revisit our pathways to discipleship: Gather, Grow, and Go.

See you Sunday, Faith family!

In Christ alone,

Pastor Brad
