Faith,
I was walking down the hall of our church and what did I hear? I heard the conversations and laughter of our VBS kids and all of their adult volunteers! It was music to my ears! In one room, they were learning a Bible verse through music. In another, they were scientists exploring the cause and effect of things unseen (kind of like God) that make a huge difference in our lives (very much like God!). And then, in another room, there was a huge fish they could crawl into to imagine the experience of Jonah and then Jesus in the tomb!
All these experiences, learning, and fun add up to something truly significant: life change! The impact of VBS goes beyond the walls of our church, shaping the lives and faith of our young ones.
The scriptures are clear. It is our responsibility to pass on the faith to the next generation!
I will open my mouth with a parable;
I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
things we have heard and known,
things our ancestors have told us.
We will not hide them from their descendants;
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
Psalm 78:2-4
The good news is we get to celebrate God’s work in VBS this Sunday! We’re inviting all of our VBS kids and leaders and their families to share with us what they’ve learned as we gather for worship on Sunday. And while, yes, this will be a kid-led worship service, your presence this Sunday will send a message to these young kids and their families that Faith Covenant Church is a place for them to seek Jesus Christ.
I am filled with anticipation and joy as we prepare to celebrate together this Sunday. We will rejoice in all that God has done in the lives and faith of our Faith kids!
